Unleash Your Creative Power: 7 Inspiring Steps to Unlock Your Full Potential
Welcome! I’m Gregg Swanson, and I’ve had the privilege of coaching professionals for over two decades. My life experiences—surviving an avalanche, competing in CrossFit, and conquering complex sales challenges—have taught me that mental strength is key to thriving in any environment. Today, I’m here to help you tap into your own inner strength and reach your full potential.
Creative Power
It took me a while to truly grasp the magnitude of my creative power. I mean, for the longest time, I lived as though life just happened to me. You know that feeling? When it seems like you’re stuck in a cycle of just reacting to things without any real control?
I was on autopilot—until I wasn’t. The turning point came when I read about Thomas Troward’s concept of creative force. The idea was that we, as humans, aren’t passive passengers in this life. Instead, we’re active participants. No, scratch that—we’re creators.
This was a revelation for me. You know that moment when the lightbulb goes off in your head, and everything suddenly seems to make sense?
That’s what it felt like when I realized I had creative power. But here’s the kicker—it wasn’t just about having a burst of inspiration and calling it a day. No, it was about consistently shaping my reality, starting with my thoughts.
Now, don’t get me wrong. It’s not like one day I just woke up and started manifesting everything I wanted with ease. It was a process. I had to get very clear on what was happening in my mind, and let me tell you, there were days when I wasn’t too impressed with my own thinking.
I realized how much negative self-talk I’d allowed to fester—things like “I’m not good enough,” or “That’s just not for me.” Those thoughts were limiting my power, blocking the flow of energy that could bring about the changes I wanted. The more I practiced aligning my thoughts with my desires, the more I noticed life shifting.
I started small. Instead of focusing on the lack—like how I used to say things like “I don’t have enough time” or “I’ll never be able to afford that”—I switched my focus to abundance. And let me tell you, the universe has a funny way of responding to that.
Little things started happening. I’d get more free time, unexpected income, and even opportunities that seemed to come out of nowhere. It wasn’t magic. It was the result of me tapping into my creative power and using it consciously.
The Law of Cause and Effect: Realizing My Influence
At first, I wasn’t sure how the law of cause and effect applied to me personally. Sure, I understood it intellectually—every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Simple enough, right? But what I didn’t realize was that this law wasn’t just about physical actions; it applied to my thoughts, beliefs, and emotions.
There was this one time when I kept finding myself in bad relationships. It didn’t matter who I was dating—things always seemed to go wrong, and I kept blaming it on bad luck or the other person. But after a while, I had to take a long, hard look in the mirror and admit something to myself.
The common denominator in all those situations was me. It sounds harsh, I know, but hear me out. I had this underlying belief that I wasn’t worthy of love, and guess what?
My experiences reflected that belief. It wasn’t until I shifted my thoughts—started believing that I did deserve love and that I was capable of creating a healthy, fulfilling relationship—that things began to change.
The law of cause and effect is powerful like that. Once I started feeding myself healthier beliefs, the relationships I attracted became healthier too. I stopped feeling like life was just throwing random challenges my way and realized I had been unknowingly setting up the conditions for them with my thoughts.
Understanding this law gave me the keys to reshape not only my relationships but everything else in my life. It wasn’t easy, but with persistence, the results were undeniable.
Learning to Harness My Creative Power in Everyday Life
I have this one memory that still makes me laugh, but at the time, it was frustrating beyond belief. I was trying to land a big project that, in my mind, was going to be the game-changer. I had everything planned out, worked day and night to perfect my pitch, and when the moment came…nothing. They went with someone else. I felt crushed.
But then, as I was wallowing in self-pity, something dawned on me: I had been focusing on the lack of opportunities before the presentation even happened. Sure, I had worked hard, but underneath it all, I had been operating from a mindset of fear and scarcity.
I kept thinking, “I hope this works because who knows when the next opportunity will come.” Guess what? That thought—scarcity—was exactly what manifested.
It was only later, after I consciously shifted my mindset, that things started turning around. I stopped looking at each project as a “last chance” and instead approached them with the mindset that opportunities were endless.
That shift, that belief in abundance, opened up doors I didn’t even know existed. I started landing projects effortlessly—not because I was trying harder, but because I finally understood that power flows more easily when we let go of fear and embrace possibility.
Creating From a Place of Alignment
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that the universe loves harmony. The more in tune you are with universal principles—things like love, beauty, and truth—the easier it becomes to create. But, full disclosure, there were a lot of times when I was out of sync, and life made sure to let me know.
There was this period when I was all about the hustle. I was grinding day in and day out, trying to build my business. I thought if I just worked hard enough, I could force things to happen. And yeah, things did happen—but not in the way I wanted.
I burned out, lost interest in what I was doing, and my health took a hit. Looking back, I realize I was trying to create from a place of disharmony. I wasn’t aligned with what truly mattered to me, and the universe reflected that discord right back at me.
That’s when I learned the importance of aligning my energy with the principles of harmony and love. Instead of forcing things, I started focusing on the joy of creation itself.
I let go of the need to control every detail and began trusting that if I aligned myself with love and truth, everything else would follow. And you know what?
It did.
The work that flowed out of me after that was more inspired, and people noticed. Opportunities came, and instead of feeling stressed, I felt energized. It was the power of alignment in action.
The Interplay of Thought and Action
Here’s something a lot of people get stuck on (myself included for a long time): creative power isn’t just about thinking the right thoughts. You have to take action, too. I learned that the hard way. For a while, I was all about positive thinking, vision boards, and affirmations. Don’t get me wrong—they’re great tools. But I kept waiting for things to change, and when they didn’t, I got frustrated.
It wasn’t until I paired my thoughts with action that things really started to move. I remember this one time, I was trying to grow my client base. I had all these affirmations about success, but I wasn’t doing much beyond thinking them.
It took a friend pointing out that I needed to actually do something—like make calls, network, reach out. I felt a bit silly at first, but the minute I took action, combined with my focused intention, results showed up faster than I expected.
Thoughts are powerful, yes. But they need action to anchor them in the material world. I like to think of it as planting seeds—your thoughts are the seeds, and your actions are the water and sunlight. One without the other, and you’ve got a dry garden.
Embracing Creative Power as a Lifelong Practice
If there’s one thing I’ve come to accept, it’s that harnessing this power is a lifelong journey. You don’t just wake up one day and have it all figured out. It’s a practice. There are days when I’m fully aligned, manifesting effortlessly, and then there are days when I fall back into old patterns of fear or doubt. The key is to keep coming back to it, to keep nurturing that connection with the creative force inside.
Sometimes I catch myself thinking, “What if this doesn’t work out?” or “What if I’m not good enough?” And when that happens, I have to gently remind myself: those thoughts are creating too. Every single thought is a creative act. It’s an invitation to either reinforce the life I want or perpetuate the one I don’t.
So, I’ve learned to be kinder to myself. I’ve learned that even in moments of frustration or uncertainty, I still have the ability to choose where I place my focus. That’s the beauty of creative power. It’s always there, waiting for you to tap into it, waiting for you to recognize that you’re the architect of your life.
Remember, you are connected to the limitless reserve of energy and power!
