Best Practices to Stay Healthy and Improve Your Health at Work

One of the most common excuses people tell for not paying proper attention to their health is the busy healthschedule that they have because of work. For people who are in the corporate world, this may be true. But, you could actually stay healthy and fit even if you have an 8-hour job in the office 5 times a week.

Just because you are at work, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have enough resources and time to stay healthy and improve your health. Apparently, there are simple yet powerful practices that you could apply on a daily basis to help you maintain a healthy environment and body.

Here are the best practices on your health and ways to do it:

  1. Keep your workspace clean

Did you know that an average office desk has hundred times more bacteria than any toilet seat? Even though it may not appear as visible as anyone thinks, it’s actually true. Hence, you must always keep your workspace clean, tidy, and well-organized.

Before going home, always clean your desk and your area. Also, never forget to have wipes and hand sanitizers on your workspace.

  1. Eat well including light and healthy lunches

Your food consumption on a daily basis has a huge role in keeping you healthy. So, it is important that you pay attention to your meals. Try planning out your lunch and snacks for the whole week. Also, on the nights before your work days, prepare healthy snacks so you won’t forget about it.

Opt to eat more veggies, fruits, and lean-protein meats. Essential Detox Organics are great options too.

  1. Restrict your caffeine intake

In the corporate world, caffeine is well-loved and there is no doubt to that. Coffee drinks and teas are always present. However, as much as you want to drink all those cups to fuel your day, you must minimize your caffeine intake.

Limit your coffee to one cup per day. This will prevent you from having afternoon crashes. Additionally, you may want to reduce your sugar and milk inclusions since these are not really healthy content for your body.

  1. Be hygienic

Your hygiene plays a huge role as well on your health conditions. In the office, while you are on your desk, it may not be possible to wash your hands every now and then. So, be wise to keep hand sanitizers and rubbing alcohols on your desk.

Nevertheless, wash your hands regularly and as much as possible if you have the chance to.

  1. Drinking an adequate amount of water

In staying healthy, you must note that water and hydration is your best friend. You should very well know that hydration is essential as this can greatly prevent you from being sick. Always stay hydrated especially during hot seasons.

Try to finish 8 to 10 glasses of water per day. Also, bringing your own water jug will help you remind yourself to drink water.

  1. Maintain good posture

Sitting on your desk for hours can cause a lot of strains in your body parts. More often than not, necks, arms, legs, back, and head are the usual parts that incur stress and pain. The reason behind is that most people tend to neglect their posture when the long hours are already there.

Now, staying healthy doesn’t always focus on food, exercise, and sleep alone. Your posture is a huge part of your health too. If you neglect your posture, you will surely incur different health issues such as osteoporosis and body parts strains.

  1. Take frequent breaks

As much as you want to stay in your desk and complete your tasks on time, remember that this will not make you productive and creative. This kind of practice will only stress you out causing you to not only be physically tired but mentally too.

Always take breaks in between. Say, take 5 to 10 minutes every hour to just breathe, relax, and calm your nerves. These breaks will actually make you more attentive, focus, and productive. Also, it can boost naturally your creativity since relaxing your mind can apparently refresh your thoughts and ideas.

  1. Get enough sleep

Getting enough sleep is significantly important to your health. Try to acquire a good night rest and sleep for 8 to 10 hours daily. This will help you avoid the coffee and sugar cravings all throughout the day. Also, the quality of your sleep can determine the mood of your day.

In short, your sleep has a huge impact on your overall health and wellness. Therefore, you have to pay attention as well to it.

  1. Move as much as you can

In relation to keeping a good posture, another best practice to take good care of it is by moving your body as much as you can. There are quite a lot of desk and chair exercises that you could do while working.

You can stroll around the office on your free time. Take the stairs instead when going up and down floors. Do a few stretching routines on your breaks. These movements will wake your mind and body up enabling you to be more focus on your tasks.

  1. Schedule your weekly fitness on Sunday night

Lastly, spare time for your fitness workouts and routines. Try to do it even once in a week, during Sunday night for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Exercising weekly will prevent you from having diseases. Also, such routines will help you get refreshed and ready for the new work week.

It is important for you to keep an eye on your health and wellness. Even if you are working on a busy schedule and environment, never neglect to take good care of yourself. Remember, health is wealth. And these practices though simple, can help you greatly improve your health state and conditions.
