By definition, the full expression of one’s potential demands taking total responsibility or ownership. If it did not, it would not be one’s own potential, it would be partly someone else’s. Peak performance coaching is therefore the essential tool for optimizing people’s potential and performance.

Top achievers perform quite well on autopilot with their attention elsewhere, but higher levels of performance demands full attention and no distractions.

PERFORMANCE COACHING IS
  • About unlocking future potential performance rather than evaluating and judging current performance. It’s based on the belief that individuals want to and can do a good job. If, deep down, you don’t believe this, coaching is probably not for you.
  • Not so much about passing on individual performance objectives, but rather a technique to take away the barriers that prevent individuals from actually taking on and delivering against their personal goals.
  • A different way of viewing people – a far more optimistic way than most of us are accustomed to – and results in a different way of treating them.

The approaches and techniques used in high-performance coaching borrow heavily from the worlds of sport and the military – areas where optimal performance is key. Peak performance coaching conversations usually start with finding out people’s “starting points” – their visions or life ambitions. Performance coaching can be described as a series of guided conversations that enable the “coachee” to discover and implement personal solutions to challenging issues or areas of performance. These solutions, because they are intrinsic to the “coachee,” are more likely to succeed and endure than solutions imposed externally.
