Mental Strength Tip #71 – Emotions and Personal Success

Welcome back to another Mental Strength Tip!

Achieving personal success and reaching your personal goals begins with a mental strength mindset of empowering beliefs.

Reaching your personal goals and personal success starts in your mind…and finishes with taking inspired and massive action.

This is one in a series of virtual success coaching and mental strength tips to help kick-start your week.  It is intended to enthuse and inspire you to take action so that you can reach your personal goals and personal success.

I take one mental strength tips and run though a brief overview of it, then ask some very direct success coaching questions.  The intention of this virtual success coaching session is for you to write and answer these questions in your success journal and then reflect on them to gain insight on yourself, your dreams and what’s holding you back.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To help you break the habit of allowing your emotions to control your behavior.

To encourage you to take consistent and persistent action towards your vision of personal success, whether you feel like it or not.

Let’s Get Started:

The average person is plagued by the disease of being controlled by their emotions.  This lack of control leads to inconsistent action, which in turn leads to inconstant results.

When you develop your mental strength and are able to control your emotions and/or how your respond to them, you’ll be able to make steady progress towards your personal goals and personal success.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Why do most people allow their emotions to hold them back from taking the action needed to achieve personal success?
  • How do the mentally strong control their emotions and feelings?
  • Is it possible to break the habit of having to “feel like” doing something in order to do it?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Emotions

  • It’s more comfortable to do what I feel like doing
  • I don’t do things that don’t feel good
  • There’s always time to do something later when I feel more like doing it

Mental Strength Beliefs about Emotions

  • Feelings precede action, control feelings – control action
  • Feelings are often irrational and get in the way and become unproductive
  • Feelings are valuable as long as they are monitored

Outrageous Questions:

  • If you controlled your feelings more often how more successful would you be?
  • Are your uncontrolled feelings sacrificing your personal success?
  • How good are you at doing what needs to be done, whether you feel like it our not?

Reflective Questions:

  • On a scale on 1-9, 9 being best, how good are you at pushing past your feelings and doing what needs to be done?
  • How can you improve your ability to push past your feelings that threaten to slow you down?
  • How can I support you in controlling your emotions?

Mental Strength Coaching:

Be aware the most people will overrate themselves when it comes to controlling their feelings and emotions. Your results are the measure of how well you really have them under control.

Take account of your daily habits, actions and behaviors and you’ll find that you don’t have as much control as you think.

Once you become aware of this you’ll then be in a place to develop your mental strength and take control of your feelings and emotions so that you can reach your personal goals and personal success.

Final Thought

Creating a heightened sense of awareness if reference to how your feelings are affecting you is the first and most important step.

Once you being to see what is really happening as compared to what you originally thought will force you to decide to either take control of your feelings and emotions or settle for a life of being average.
