This is one in a series of mental strength tips to help start your week of strong so that you can reach you peak personal performance, personal success and enhance your personal development.
I take one subject and run though a brief overview of it, then ask some very direct questions. The intention of these ‘sessions’ is for you to write the questions in a success journal reflect on them and answer them.

I know, when most people think of logic they think of Spock, but really logic is based on linear thinking and is used best in business to formulate business strategy and action plans. It’s a way to think of the best way of getting from point A to Point B….logic is what you want to do. Emotion is non-linear and is used to motivate a performer to make quantum leaps in thinking and performance. Emotion is why you want to do something.
Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:
- Do you believe the process of goal setting is more logical or emotional?
- Do you believe there’s more power in logic or emotion?
- Are you more logical or emotional?
Unsupportive Beliefs about Logic and Emotions
- Men are logical based and Women are emotional based
- Emotion has no place in the business world
- Showing emotion reveals weakness
Mental Strength Beliefs about Logic and Emotions
- Human begins are primarily emotional individuals
- Logic creates the ‘how’. Emotions creates the ‘why’
- Showing emotion and vulnerability are sings of maturity and mental strength

- Do your results indicate that you’ve used emotion to get superior results?
- What are your top 3 emotional motivators?
Reflective Questions:
- How can I help you use both logic and emotions more effectively?
- How can I help you uncover your emotional motivators?
- What can I do as your coach to support you in learning how to best use both logic and emotions to improve your personal performance and personal success?
Mental Strength Coaching:
Make sure you understand that distinction between logic and emotion, and that emotion is where your real power comes from. You’ll know have this understood when you know that logic is for strategy and emotion is for motivation. Remember…emotion creates motion!
