Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To help you understand the power roles model can have in facilitating your way to reaching your personal goals and achieving personal success.

Let’s Get Started:

An important key foundation in Neuro-linguistic Programming is modeling. To model, you emulate those who have already achieved success. You observe, analyze and then replicate the factors that contributed to the outstanding performance.

While there is no 100% guarantee that you can reap the same results, modeling helps you shorten your learning curve. You learn to avoid common mistakes and apply the essential steps and strategies that have helped your role model succeed. The idea is that it is much easier to follow a previously proven path to success.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • In what areas of your life have you utilized roles models?
  • Do you believe role models can expedite your personal success?
  • If using roles models is so effective, why don’t more people use them?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Role Models

  • Role models are for children to admire.
  • Role models are unapproachable.
  • Role models are overrated.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Role Models

  • Role models clear the path to success.
  • Role models are fantastic teachers.
  • Role models take the guesswork out of success.

Outrageous Questions:

  • Who are your role models?
  • Do you have role models in every area of your life?
  • How many role models helped you get where you are today?

Reflective Questions:

  • What would you have to do to find more role models for your life?
  • How can I help you decided on new role models?
  • How much time could you save by following the appropriate role models to manifest your life’s purpose?

Mental Strength Coaching:

Role models are everywhere. Some are worthy of the term, others are thrust into the role for whatever reason and are not worthy of emulation by any stretch of the imagination. Yet it is human nature for all of us to seek out role models. We all want to see ourselves reflected in the faces of others who are successful and “just like us”.

When you look for a role model, remember, they don’t have to be “perfect” in every area of their life, only the area you want to emulate.

Final Thought

Any person, regardless of social stature, race, creed, and geographical location has looked up to someone for inspiration and aspire to be like him or her. People that motivate other people to do great things are role models. But role models need not come from the best schools, or have waged and won many wars, or have written tons of tomes that contemplate on man’s existence; any person can be a role model to someone.

A role model serves as an inspiration or, as the case may be, a living guide to those who are inspired by his works, values, character, and life as a whole. Role models are pivotal to a person’s success. College students, according to a study, were heavily influenced by their role models when deciding which career path they would likely take.

The criteria a person uses to choose a role model vary. Criteria are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things in one’s life though, if a role model inspires one to do great things.
