Welcome back the continuation of this series entitled “Mental Strength Habits Of A Purpose Focused Man”

We’ve been breaking down 21 habits of a purposed focused man one. A man with a purpose driven life exhibits specific qualities in 5 segments of his life, these segments are:

  • Mental
  • Physical
  • Emotional
  • Financial
  • Spiritual

If this is your first time here the link back to “Mental Strength Habits Of A Purpose Focused Man – Part I.

There is no “mid-life crisis” for men…generally speaking.

This “mid-life crisis” for men is, is just a lack of focus and purpose.  When men lose their purpose, they also lose our focus.  When they lose their focus they feel lost.  And many men attempt to find themselves in unproductive behaviors.

My main point of these posts and my private intensive, The 2nd Passage, is to help men realize that they do have a mission and purpose in life.  And once they find it they can live a life of power, purpose, passion and perseverance!

My hope is that through these series of posts and The 2nd Passage Intensive, I will help men who, admittedly or not, are experiencing a mid-life emptiness and guide them back to manhood and step into their masculinity…without becoming a jerk.

We’ve already covered the mental qualities and well into the emotional habits of a highly focused purpose driven man.  Here is the next emotional habit:

Time Management

Purpose Focused Man

  • Taking strength from the past
  • Learning from mistakes
  • Gaining confidence from achievements
  • Planning for the future with clear sensory goals and action plans
  • Most importantly this means living in the present
  • They treat each minute as a unrepeatable miracle
  • They live each moment and day fully
  • They wake-up excited about what the new day will bring
  • They wake-up with a desire and purpose and see’s each day as an adventure and challenge
  • The morning is the time to put the finishing touches on the days plan
  • They develop time management by thinking if I wake up and hour early each day I can add the equivalent of 15 days each year
  • Time management builds a string of successful days, weeks, months into years and then a life.
  • Successful time periods are the accomplishment of goals either, short, medium or long
  • Look at goals from the present, “Today I am…”

A man with a purpose driven life knows time is his most precious “possession”.  He takes advantage of every single minute of the day.   Because he is a man on a mission he wakes up early knowing he can more done in the long run.

He has goals for each day, each week, month and year and works his plan regularly; know that by focusing on his goals he will have plenty of time for his other passions including his family and friends.

A purpose focused man knows that every second is a miracle and takes time to enjoy the beauty and wonders of Nature.  This is one way he recharges his batteries.

A man with a purpose driven life knows that with every passing minute he keeps getting closer to realizing his personal goals and personal success.

No Purpose, Unfocused Man

  • According to psychological studies the average person spends about 58 minutes out of every hours trying to forget about the past or living in fear of the future.
  • Don’t have daily, weekly, monthly, yearly or even lifetime goals
  • They regularly run out of time or don’t have enough time
  • They live in the past dwelling on their failures and thinking of ways to justify them
  • They live in fear of the future and think of excuses why they can achieve a goal (if they have one)
  • If they have a “want” they preface their goal with “Someday I’ll be…”

A man without a purpose driven life spend most of his time reminiscing about the past or worrying about the future.  He feels life is out of his control and as such never plans out his day, week or year.

He spends more time planning his two-week vacation then he does planning for his futures.  He has no personal goals and personal success is hitting the lottery.

A man without a purpose driven wastes so much time in worry that he complains that he has no time left to do anything….except watch TV.

He feels he will also have “mañana” and squanders away precious minutes.

Unfortunately this is the type of man the dies with the music still in him.

Self Assessment

OK…looking at the above mental strength emotional characteristic for a man with a purpose driven life, take the below survey and see how well you’re doing… and please have the courage to be honest with yourself.

Time Management: The habit of viewing others as possessing intrinsic worth and goodness. Taking the time to listen to others and give emotional nourishment. Valuing the closeness of spouse, children, and family. Holding the value that no success can compensate for failure in valued relationships.

Never                  Seldom               Sometimes        Often                   Always

Come on guys, please tell me you’re beginning to get a sense of where you are in Life.  Again, there is not right or wrong place; it’s just where you are.  The question is, what are you going to do about it!

Are you courageous enough to take action and change?

If this post has raised some questions, consider investing in yourself, your vision and your life.  Take a look at The 2nd Passage for a way to put your power, passion and purpose into action and life a purposed driven life.

I’ll leave you this quote:

“Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of.” – Benjamin Franklin.
