If this is your first time here the link back to “Mental Strength Habits Of A Purpose Focused Man – Part I.
I’d like to address something up front, there is no “mid-life crisis” for men…generally speaking.
This “mid-life crisis” for men is, is just a lack of focus and purpose. When men lose their purpose, they also lose our focus. When they lose their focus they feel lost. And many men attempt to find themselves in unproductive behaviors.
My main point of these posts and my private intensive, The 2nd Passage, is to help men realize that they do have a mission and purpose in life. And once they find it they can live a life of power, purpose, passion and perseverance!
My hope is that through these series of posts and The 2nd Passage Intensive, I will help men who, admittedly or not, are experiencing a mid-life emptiness and guide them back to manhood and step into their masculinity…without becoming a jerk.
We’ve already covered the mental qualities and just finished the emotional habits of a highly focused purpose driven man. We now move on to the physical habits of a purpose focused man.
Control Physical Stress
Purpose Focused Man:
- Can tell when they are physically under stress and know how to relive it
- Daily dissipate stress through various routines, i.e. meditation, breathing, going for walk
- Develop technique to direct oxygen rich blood to specific muscles and areas of the body to relax
- Knows their body and what nature way is the best to reduce the stress
A man with a purpose driven life understands the importance of taking care of himself. He understands that too much stress is unhealthy and he actively peruses way of dissipating stress.
A purpose focused man knows his body and the signals it’s sending and understands when it’s time for some “down-time.”
Reducing stress is an integral part of his daily activities and always has time for it. Because of this a man with a purpose driven life will live a longer, happier and healthier life.
No Purpose, Unfocused Man
- Constant state of stress
- Perceive they have no time to relax
- Unwind with alcohol, drugs and even junk food
- Muscles tense and restrict oxygen rich blood from freely flowing to their brain and vital organs
- Heart must compensate for tense and work harder and over time weakens vessel and artery walls and can result in a stoke or heart attack
A man without a purpose driven life perceives he has no time to mange his stress, as such, he keeps adding to it.
If he does look to release stress he uses unhealthy ways such as junk-food or alcohol and drugs. Because of unhealthy way he manages stress he will live a shorter, unfulfilled life.
A man with no apparent purpose in life will be in a constant state of tension. This tension block oxygen rich blood from doing it’s job and eventually he finds himself with diseases like ulcers.
