5 Steps To A Positive Attitude

I presume you’re reading this because you want more out of life, right.positive attitude

Well, if you are going to create the life you want and desire, the first and foremost requirement is your belief that you are capable of creating it.  It doesn’t matter if you’re thinking about career, business, relationships or any other aspect of your life….you must believe that you create and have it.

In order to effect permanent change in your life your attitude about any specific situation is the first aspect that has to change.  The sooner you learn that your attitude is in your complete control, the sooner you’ll be able to change your lives, and those around you, in a positive manner.

Whether you label it as mental strength, self-esteem, self-confidence, or self-assurance, attitude is the belief that you have the skills, talents, and inner resources to create your desired results. By combining a positive attitude, with positive action, you will create an environment for success. Both attitude and action are choices, and there is a link between your attitude about a given situation, and the choices you make.

Here are 5 steps creating a mental strong positive attitude:

  1. Remind yourself of past accomplishments.

Dwelling on past mistakes or strategies that didn’t produce the results you wanted only keeps you stuck in the past. Yes, there is no failure only feedback.  And with every feedback there is learning.  It’s not necessary to focus on any perceived “mistakes”; however the ability to focus on skills, talents, and strategies that have produced success will lead you to successfully reaching your personal goals.

  1. Associate with Positive Minded People/Groups.

Join a positive group or organization, there a tons of them on MeetUp, LinkedIn and Facebook. This can be a formal or informal group/organization. The point here is to surround yourself with people who will challenge and support you intellectually, socially, and perhaps spiritually. It is important to recognize that your potential often exceeds your current level of performance, and association with other high achievers can motivate you to reach new levels of personal success.

  1. Develop an Attitude of Gratitude

No matter how bad your current circumstances seem to be, there is always someone worse off. Developing a workable perspective on life and the business of living it, is essential to a positive attitude. Take time each day to count your blessings, you need to remind yourself about what is truly important in your life.

    4.       Rest and Relaxation

Develop a rest and relaxation schedule. Too much work makes for a life out of balance, and leads to a negative attitude. You must incorporate rest and relaxation into your schedules….let me tell you, no one else will!! Part of relaxation is exercise. The benefits of exercise have been well documented. Exercise also helps us to develop a positive image of self, which then enhances your attitude. When you’re feeling stressed and in a bad mood…get out there and sweat!

  1.  Read/Watch/Listen to Inspiring Material

To develop a positive, successful attitude, it is essential to inspire your minds. Develop a file of stories that inspire you; listen to tapes that fire the imagination, read about people who have overcome adversity. Knowing that others have overcome life’s circumstances will help to bolster our belief in ourselves.  Besides my blog 🙂  Here are three others that I have found to be extremely helpful:
