You’re Going To Have To Face It, You’re Addicted To Thoughts
I can’t resist…I have to share this before I get to the post:

Energy can’t be destroyed or created. Feelings and emotions are energy. So where does the energy associated with anger come from? Where does the energy associated with love come from?
They are all inside of us, all the time. We have decided to label these energies with names like; anger, love, hate, joy, etc. But in essence they are all apart of us.
So the next question is if all the energies, emotions and feelings are inside of us what trigger’s them so that we can feel and experience them?
Thoughts!
If you’re on the path of mental strength then you know that you can control these thoughts and develop a purposeful mindset. But even the best of us backslide once in awhile.
There you are not focusing on anything in particular or perhaps an unpleasant event happens, i.e. Starbucks runs out of your favorite pastry and then it happens! One negative thought pops into your mind, then another and before you know it you find yourself in a quagmire of stinking thinking.
How can this happen?
Even if you’re not that proficient with mental training this can be very discouraging and you might ask, “Why and where do these negative thoughts come from?”
Because you’re addicted to them!
If you ever saw “What the Bleep” there was section in the movie where several scientists discuss the release of chemicals in our brain when we think different thoughts. Joe Dispenza describes this phenomenon further in “Evolve Your Brain” and says that since the majority of our thoughts each day are negative that we have become addicted to the chemicals that are released with those thoughts. These can be thoughts of drama, anger, frustration or any other non-supportive thought.
Are you ready…here comes the interesting part! Even if you do take back your personal power and commit to thinking better thoughts….your body will try to prevent you!
You see, when the body becomes addicted it will do anything to get that fix. This can be addicted to an outside chemical like sugar, caffeine, cocaine…or to an internal drug associated with a specific energy/emotion.
When you start on the path of personal growth, the mind is willing but the body is weak. You can purposefully think “good” thoughts for a few moments, but as soon as you stop and the body goes into “withdraws” the body will send a signal up the central nervous system directly to the brain say “we need the drug.” The brain obeying the command will pull up a thought associated with the desired chemical and before you know it your thinking a negative thought and the chemicals associated with it are being released and your body is happy again.
Then cycle starts all over again!
WOW!! Is there any hope?
Yes!
Practice awareness. As in anything, the change starts with awareness. When you reclaim your personal power, know what is happening and become aware of when it happens you then can stop the cycle and think a different thought. For long lasting results this will have be done “cold turkey.” There’s no transition drug for this.
But isn’t marvelous that you now know how the cycle works!
We have ALL the energies and emotions inside us all the time.
- Thoughts trigger the emotions.
- The body is addicted to the chemicals associated with the dominate thoughts.
- When the body doesn’t get its fix it will signal the brain to think the dominate thought.
- To become addicted to positive and empowering thoughts we must:
- Purposefully think better thoughts
- Be aware and change any negative thoughts immediately
- This will gradually shift the addiction from negative thoughts to positive thoughts
- When we shift our thinking our lives will change.
I know this may seem like an over simplification, but it really works this way.
If you like to find out specifically how to control and switch your thoughts pick up a copy of “Develop the Mental Strength of a Warrior.” It has proven effective and simple techniques and process that work!
Once you begin your mental training and control your thoughts you will have reclaimed your personal power and be well on your way to personal growth and peak personal performance!
