Transformation Goals and Personal Growth

Personal Transformation is a vast horizon that encompasses everything, yes everything that you are. If you are planning to embark on that transformationparticular journey then you cannot do it successfully by blindly moving towards changing all the facets of your personality at the same time. As you find the things you must change or unlearn and as you determine that there are things to learn in their stead, you need to decide which battles to fight first. In other words, you need to prioritize your goals for personal transformation.

Suggested Transformation Goals

Transformation Gaols – Healing and Forgiveness as a Priority Goal

You cannot soar to new heights if you are weighed down by the past. Personal transformation is often preceded by painful events that bring about the realization that change has to take place. The first thing you must do is squarely face the hurts and demons that hound you. Forgive and accept others. Most of all forgive and accept yourself. Move away from bitterness and build something new. Healing and forgiveness should be a priority goal for anyone who wants to be able to move on. By itself and in itself, this goal is by far the most transformative.

Take note that healing and forgiveness could take a lifetime to accomplish but making it a goal is an achievement in itself. This means you are willing to let go of hurts that bind you and you are now setting yourself free. Just being willing to step out of the circle of pain that you feel is already a qualitative first step to healing.

Transformation Goal – A Framework for Drawing up Goals

As you draw up your goals for personal transformation, try to look at what you need in terms of your spirituality, your intellectual capacities, your emotional well-being and your social skills and your work capabilities. Honestly reflect on which aspect needs the most work and start there. Don’t try to avoid the difficult by centering on your strong points. Although these strengths are to be enhanced, chances are your weak points play a major part in your current woes.

For example, a person who is in financial straits may discern that he or she needs to intellectually have a better grasp of budgeting, credit card interest rates and loan options. If this person is highly sociable, easy to like and friendly, he or she does not need a crash course on how to win friends and influence people. However, he or she may find that it is important to find out where the wrong investments or overspending takes place and if these have any emotional roots at all.

Transformation Goal – Identifying the Problem Area

A tool for effectively prioritizing your goals for personal transformation is assessing your environment in terms of problem areas. Then, use this to analyze what you need to unlearn and learn. This will lead you to the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social and work aptitudes you need to work on. For example, a person who finds himself miserably alienated in terms of a social life can think about which aptitude he or she needs to work on then think of activities to help resolve the problem.

Can it be solved physically with a wardrobe make-over?

Will coaching from Toastmasters Club do it?

Or does the alienation stem from a more deep-seated reason?

When a person attempts to look at transformation this way, he or she can more easily choose which changes to attempt first.

Going Back to the Why’s and Wherefores of Personal Transformation

Setting and prioritizing your personal transformation goals is not all about getting rid of the old you because it was not good enough. Neither is it about “showing them” or extracting revenge or proving yourself. To put it simply, at the heart of this process is should be a love for yourself and a confidence that you can move towards being the best that you can be – a totally different proposition from being someone else! Remember that the caterpillar already contains the butterfly; it is all just a matter of growth. And so it is with you.
