Objective of this Mental Strength Tip on Why to Think Big

To persuade you that mental strength results stem from learning how to think big; and that thinking big is a habit that can be learned and developed.

Let’s Get Started:

Many people are enamored by big ideas, but it’s really difficult for most people or teams to let their minds go free and go large. It’s not surprising. People are so often focused on the day-to-day small stuff that they struggle with thinking in an expansive manner.

To think big, you must first understand the cause and benefits of thinking small.  Companies, teams and individual achievers are sharply focused on getting things done. They’re not all good at it, but generally most everyone strives for efficiency.

This approach is very effective for problem solving, which drives most leaders daily. It’s the approach most often taught, encouraged and used by managers and employees alike. But this determined focus on completion often limits the ultimate scope of the results.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Why to Think Big:

  • What does thinking big mean to you?
  • What impact does thinking big have in most people’s lives?
  • Is thinking big limit4eed to business or is it possible to think big in your personal life as well?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Why to Think Big:

  • Thinking big is for rich people.
  • Thinking big is pie in the sky thinking.
  • Thinking big isn’t part of the real world.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Why to Think Big:

  • Thinking big is a habit anyone can develop.
  • Thinking big means transcending the fear of failure.
  • Thinking big always precedes outrageous personal success.

Outrageous Questions on Why to Think Big:

  • Do you consider yourself a big thinker? If so, compared to whom?
  • If you thought bigger would you be getting bigger results?
  • How can you use big thinking in your personal life?

Reflective Questions on Why to Think Big:

  • On a scale of 1-9, 9 being biggest, how would your three closest friends rate your level of thinking?
  • What results do you have to show for your big thinking?
  • What beliefs would you have to develop on order to double the size of your thinking?

Mental Strength Coaching Why to Think Big:

What does it really mean to think big?

If you have something valuable in mind, a service to offer, an idea to develop, or even your own raw talent to use, then you owe it to yourself – and to others – to increase its scope. Why settle for anything less than the full potential of what you can do with it?

Thinking big needs:

  • Vision. To think big, you need to see big.
  • Courage. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
  • Thick skin. If what you have in mind is at all worth doing, then others will express doubts about it along the way.

The fact is, when you have a strong enough vision, the courage takes care of itself. When you can see, hear, and feel your vision, then you simply have to pursue it, however crazy it might seem to others.

Final Thought Why to Think Big:

I’d like to finish this post with some excerpts from “The Magic of Thinking Big” by David J. Schwartz

The size of bank accounts, the size of happiness accounts, and the size of one’s general satisfaction account is dependent on ‘the size of one’s thinking”. There is magic in thinking big.

Success does not demand price. Every step forward pays a dividend.

Belief, the “I-am-positive-I-can” attitude, generates the power, skill, and energy needed to do. When you believe I-can-do-it, the how-to-do-it develops. The how-to-do-it always comes to the person who believes he can do it. Belief, strong belief, triggers the mind to figuring ways and means and how-to.

Belief in great results is the driving force, the power behind all great books, plays, scientific discoveries. Belief in success is behind every successful business, church, and political organization. Belief in success is one basic, absolutely essential ingredient in successful people.

The “Okay-I’ll-give-it-a-try-but-I-don’t-think-it-will-work” attitude produces failures.

Disbelief is negative power. When the mind disbelieves or doubts, the mind attracts “reasons” to support the disbelief. Doubt, disbelief, the subconscious will to fail, the not really wanting to succeed, is responsible for most failures.

It is well to respect the leader. Learn from him. Observe him. Study him. But don’t worship him. Believe you can surpass. Believe you can go beyond. Those who harbor the second-best attitude invariably second-best doers.

Belief is the thermostat that regulates what we accomplish in life. Believe in yourself and good things do start happening.

Those who convert opportunity into reward will be those wise people who learn how to think themselves to success.

How to develop the power of belief?

  1. Think success, don’t think failure. Thinking success conditions your mind to create plans that produce success.
  2. Remind yourself regularly that you are better than you think you are. Success does not require super-intellect. Nor is there anything mystical about success. And success is not based on luck. Successful people are just ordinary folks who have developed belief in themselves and what they do. Never, sell yourself short.
  3. Believe BIG. “

… We need from every man who aspires to leadership– for himself and his company – a determination to undertake a personal program of self-development. Nobody is going to order a man to develop. …. Whether a man lags behind or moves ahead in his specialty is a matter of his own personal application. This is something which takes time, work, and sacrifice. Nobody can do it for you.” -Mr. Ralph J. Cordiner, Chairman of Board of the General Electric Company in a leadership conference.

Persons who reach the top rungs in business management, selling, engineering, religious work, writing, acting, and in every other pursuit get there by following conscientiously and continuously a plan for self-development and growth
