Become a Wellbeing Warrior
Below are some of the factors that influence our states of wellbeing.
The 6 Aspects of Wellbeing
Before we dive into these aspects, you should know that wellbeing is a personal state. And for us to achieve it, we must focus on what makes us content with life. Don’t imitate another person’s life plan, rather create yours.
1. Health
When we talk about health, we refer to both body and mind health. You could be physically healthy but emotionally unhealthy. Things like stress, emotions and attitudes contribute immensely to poor mental health. Also, as much as we are encouraging you to focus on mental health, you shouldn’t forget about physical health. Exercise regularly, get enough sleep, manage your weight, and you will see positive changes in your overall wellbeing. You should learn to take of your body and positively to respond to different emotions. An unhealthy person is an unhappy person.
2. Relationships
Are you familiar with the phrase that no man is an island? Well, it does have some truth into it. We human beings are social. According to recent studies, people who are in healthy relationships tend to live longer. In this case, relationships don’t only mean having a husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend. You can have a healthy relationship with your dad, mum, brother or any other friend. Our relationships affect us more than we can even realize.
3. Safety
Feeling safe also contributes significantly to a person’s wellbeing. This is because it minimizes all feelings of anxiety or fear. To create a feeling of security you should practise preventative measures such as locking doors, wearing helmets and safety belts. Going for regular check-ups will also keep you aware of your health status.
4. Knowing Your Purpose in Life
Knowing your purpose in life gives you meaning. Many are the times we find ourselves doubting the purpose we are supposed to play in this world. Whenever you get such a feeling, you should examine your values, passions, aspirations and also gifts. For instance, if you are a teacher, your purpose in life could be to educate the world. Knowing this can give you a sense of fulfilment and keep you connected to something greater.
5. The Community
The kind of community you live in also determines how you will feel about yourself. Residing in an insecure community will make you feel threatened and anxious at all times. This is why you should decide to get more involved with your community by doing acts such as volunteering or hanging out more with your neighbors. The community also refers to your neighborhood, workstation and even place of worship.
6. Environment
Scientists have discovered that nature deprivation could often lead to depression. Similar to the community, the environment you live in contributes heavily to your wellbeing. You should analyses your environment and see how it is contributing to your mood and physical health. Environmental issues such as global warming are leading to harsh climates which are drastically affecting the environment.
We can conclude that wellbeing is a dynamic process. All the above aspects are related, and without one or two, it may be hard for you to feel purposeful. Nonetheless, know that it is normal to slip up in an area or two. Achieving wellbeing requires patience, determination and self-compassion.
All it takes is climbing the first step, and in no time, you will achieve the balance that you have always been craving.
How to Become a Wellbeing Warrior?
There is no doubt that a significant majority of us haven’t reached this stage yet. We are still struggling with some of the above aspects. We can mostly blame our lifestyles. The daily repetition is what has led us to live a life without meaning. It’s as if we are stuck in a loop.
However, there is some light at the end of the tunnel. You, too, can achieve a balanced state of mind and feel contented.
The First step Involves a Question
The journey to achieving wellbeing starts with one simple question. What can I do to feel satisfied and balanced? By asking yourself this, you will have changed your attitude and direction towards gaining fulfilment. You will have given yourself the power and control over your happiness.
Understand that the path towards wellbeing comes from within, and it is unique. The tips below can help you out in your journey.
