Achieving peak personal performance and creating personal power begins with a mental strength mindset and empowering beliefs. Reaching your personal goals starts in the mind and finishes with peak performance…taking massive action.
This is one in a series of mental strength life coaching tips to help start your week of strong so that you can reach your personal goals and personal success.
I take one subject and run though a brief overview of it, then ask some very direct questions. The intention of these virtual sessions is for you to write the questions in your success journal and then reflect on them and write your answers and thoughts in your journal.
These series of posts are for YOU! If I’m not able to coach you personally one-on-one, I want you to at least get the benefit of “virtual” coaching.
Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:
T0 discuss your level of coachability and how being coachable will assist you in moving you closer to your personal goals and personal success.
Let’s Get Started:
Determine how close to objective reality you are in terms of being coachable. Please rate yourself on a scale of 1-9, 9 being completely open to being coached. If you rated yourself over a 7 and you don’t have a personal coach, you might be slightly disillusioned. If you’re under a 7, congratulations on being honest, now how can we get you to understand how this mindset is limiting you?
Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:
- Is your level of coachability helping or hurting you?
- Who do you believe is more coachable, an average achiever or top performer?
- How important is coaching to realizing your personal goals and personal success?
Unsupportive Beliefs about Coachability
- Being coached is for beginners
- Being coached is only for sports
- I already know enough, I just need to apply it
Mental Strength Beliefs about Coachability
- Being coached keeps me sharp
- Being coached gives me an outside perspective that helps brings me closer to my personal goals and personal success.
- The higher I climb the more valuable being coachable becomes
Outrageous Questions:
- Is your ego getting in the way being coached?
- What’s more important: being a lone wolf or achieving your personal goals?
- What’s keeping you from being more coachable?
Reflective Questions:
- What can I do to assist you in increasing your level of coachability?
- Do you see the values in becoming more coachable?
- Would becoming more coachable expand your perspective as an achiever? In other words, can being coachable help you see your actions and results more accurately by getting feedback from someone outside yourself?
Mental Strength Coaching:
The two biggest hurdles a person will face when attempting to improve their level of coachablilty are ego and emotionally sensitivity, these are both evident in individuals who are unaccustomed to accepting constructive feedback.
I can’t emphasize enough that by addressing both of these hurdles during coaching session’s only helps to build the case around that the benefits of transcending their ego and opening up to feedback will exponentially accelerate a person’s journey to their personal goals and personal success.
Like a broken record, I must keep coming back to how everything a person decides to do to improve themselves will only help manifest their ultimate vision. Otherwise they may interpret everything ask of them to do as extra work in their already overloaded schedule.
Final Thought
Coachability is a key ingredient in creating your personal success. No matter how good you think you are, if you’re not coachable, you’ll only get so far.
