Mental Strength Tip #15 – Mental Strength and Consistency
Achieving peak personal performance and personal success begins with a mental strength mindset and empowering beliefs. Personal success starts in the mind and finishes with peak performance…taking massive action.
This is one in a series of mental strength tips to help start your week of strong so that you can reach you peak performance, personal success and develop your personal empowerment.
I take one subject and run though a brief overview of it, then ask some very direct questions. The intention of these ‘sessions’ is for you to write the questions in a success journal reflect on them and answer them.
This series of posts is for YOU! If I’m not able to coach you personally one-on-one, I want you to at least get the benefit of “virtual” coaching.
Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:
To help you understand and appreciate that the one of the marks of mental strength is consistency…Consistently in, thought and behavior, i.e. action. It’s only through consistency that one can achieve personal success and peak personal performance.
Let’s Get Started:
In a previous post I went into the difference between consistency and persistency. If you haven’t read it yet, I would recommend doing so before you go through this mental strength tip.
When you look at any success or peak performance the achievement came from consistent action. Since all action starts with a thought, your thoughts have to be consistent and aligned with your goal. If not, success will be a fleeting ghost in the night.
Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:
- What role do you think consistency plays in being successful?
- On a scale of 1 to 7, 7 being highest, how consistent are you in your career, your fitness or your relationships?
- What have you learned about how to consistent in your life?
Unsupportive Beliefs about Consistency
- Success is about luck, not consistency.
- I don’t have time to think about consistency, I’m too busy trying to make a living.
- Consistency is one of those overused words/phrases, nobody really does it.
Mental Strength Beliefs about Consistency
- Consistency is one of the hallmarks of mental strength and personal success.
- Consistent habits, actions and behaviors require congruent and consistent thoughts.
- Consistent thinking manifests consistent results and peak personal performance.
Outrageous Questions:
- If you were being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey about consistency in your life, would there be enough evidence to support you being consistent?
- Do your results reflect consistent actions?
- When you say you’re consistent, to whom are you comparing yourself to?
Reflective Questions:
- How can I help you become more consistent?
- What steps to you need to take to improver your consistency in life?
- Who is the ultimate role model of consistency for you?
Mental Strength Coaching:
My job in this session is to move you from ‘delusion’ into objective reality as it relates to how consistent you are in business, life and success. I need to point out that evaluating consistency is based on behaviors and results, not anyone’s opinion.
If your mental strength is good and your consistency is already great in business, how can you take what you’re doing well and apply it to other areas of your life? It’s my responsibility to let you know that most individuals believe they are much more consistent they actually are, and tend to dismiss this critical mental strength component of personal success. My job is to dissolve that delusion and move you into objective realty, so that you can achieve your personal success.
