Mental Strength Tip #125: Self-Image and Personal Success

Welcome back to another Mental Strength Tip!

Exceeding your human potential, achieving personal success and reaching your personal goals starts with a mental strength mindset of empowering beliefs that will create the feeling of empowerment.

Reaching your personal goals, achieving personal success and exceeding your human potential starts in your mind…and finishes with taking inspired and massive action.

This is one in a series of virtual personal coaching and mental strength tips to help kick-start your week.  It is intended to create self-empowerment and inspire you to take action so that you can reach your personal goals and personal success.

I take one mental strength tips and run though a brief overview of it, then ask some very direct coaching questions.  The intention of this virtual personal coaching session is for you to write and answer these questions in your success journal and then reflect on them to gain insight on yourself, your dreams and what’s holding you back.

Let’s Get Started:

It has been overwhelmingly established that people who expect to succeed at a given endeavor are more likely to do so than those who expect to fail. Positive expectations work as a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy – those who expect to succeed are more likely to do so, thus maintaining and reinforcing their expectation for success.

The expectations we have for ourselves are largely determined by our self-image. The opinion you have of yourself directly impacts your expectations and consequently your chances for success in any undertaking.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • How is a persona’s self-image created?
  • Do people have one self-image or multiple self-images in different areas of their life?
  • Have you experienced highs and lows in your self-image?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Self-Image:

  • You’re born with your self-image.
  • Self-image cannot be altered.
  • Self-image has no effect on behavior.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Self-Image:

  • Self-image is forged primarily in childhood.
  • Self-image is the result of random programming by us and others.
  • Self-image can be completely enhanced through mental strength re-programming.

Outrageous Questions:

  • How has your self-image helped you in the past?
  • How has your self-image hurt you in the past?
  • How has your self-image affected your level of success?

Reflective Questions:

  • What comes first, success or a successful self-image?
  • On a scale of 1-9, 9 being the best, how strong is your self-image around success?
  • Do your closest friends and family have healthy and positive self-images?

Mental Strength Coaching:

The self-image is the foundation of everything in life. We all always act and think in consistency with our self-image or identity. Everything you do, think and feel is based on how you see yourself.

The self-image is your own conception of “The person I am.” It is built from your beliefs about yourself. Our subconscious mind does not question the validity of our self-image but proceeds to act upon it just as if it were true. The self-image creates individual reality regardless of how accurate it is.

Final Thought

Your self-image defines and limits your potential. What you need to do is build your self-image so that you expand from your current self-imposed limitations. By expanding your self-image, you expand the limits of your talents and capabilities.

Expanding your self-image expands your personal field of possibilities. If you don’t think you really deserve love, success and abundance then you usually don’t take the risks necessary to create it. And, if it falls in your lap, you often sabotage it because reality doesn’t match your internal self-image.
