Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To convince you that reprogramming your limiting belief system is not only possible, but practical and simple through the mental strength tool of self-talk.

Let’s Get Started:

People that achieve personal success in a consistent basis have one thing in common. Whether they are successful athletes, executives, business owners, or artists, they all know that they will succeed.

They know this before they even attempt to achieve the goal they set out for themselves. They envision themselves living the way they want to live and feeling the excitement, gratitude, and the sense of accomplishment that comes from reaching what they set out to do.

Positive self-talk is the dialogue that goes on in your mind. It is where you believe in yourself and are confident in your capabilities to the point that you are certain that you will succeed.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Do think you can change some your limiting beliefs?
  • Does self-talk have the power to reconstruct your limiting belief system?
  • Is it possible to talk yourself into both supportive and non-supportive behaviors and habits?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Self-Talk

  • Self-talk is too simple to work.
  • Positive self-talk it silly.
  • I’m too busy to change my current self-talk.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Self-Talk

  • Improving my self-talk improves my behavior and my results.
  • The potential for change through self-talk is limitless.
  • Peak performance self-talk builds peak performance beliefs.

Outrageous Questions:

  • If you enhanced your self-talk would you be more successful?
  • Is it possible you’re underestimating the power of self-talk?
  • Could enhancing your self-talk be the missing element in your personal success?

Reflective Questions:

  • Would you be willing to experiment with your self-talk for the next 30 days?
  • What level of language do your closest friends and family members use?
  • Is your self-talk holding you back?

Mental Strength Coaching:

Self-talk is the internal voice that each one of us has inside our head. Sometimes it says positive things and at other times it says negative things. This voice acts as a narrator as we think about and interpret situations on a day-to-day basis. This internal self-talk helps direct our mind to create mental pictures based on what we say to ourselves. With these pictures we run ‘internal movies’ in our mind.

  • What types of ‘movies’ do you run in your mind?
  • Do you run movies where you are watching the worst-case scenario happen?
  • Are you the hero or the victim in your movies?
  • Do you imagine yourself as capable and self-confident or bumbling and incompetent?

Final Thought

The profound truth is, you are the director of your own movies! If you are tired of watching those ‘horror movies’ in your head then you can take control and produce the thoughts and images that will empower, enrich, and transform the quality of your life!
