There is no “mid-life crisis” for men…generally speaking.
This “mid-life crisis” for men is, is just a lack of focus and purpose. When men lose their purpose, they also lose our focus. When they lose their focus they feel lost. And many men attempt to find themselves in unproductive behaviors.
My main point of these posts and my private intensive, The 2nd Passage, is to help men realize that they do have a mission and purpose in life. And once they find it they can live a life of power, purpose, passion and perseverance!
My hope is that through these series of posts and The 2nd Passage Intensive, I will help men who, admittedly or not, are experiencing a mid-life emptiness and guide them back to manhood and step into their masculinity…without becoming a jerk.
We’ve already covered the mental qualities and well into the emotional habits of a highly focused purpose driven man. We’ll look at the last physical habit:
Energy Rejuvenation
Purpose Focused Man
- Need only 6 – 7 hours sleep per night
- Adequate time to rebuild and reenergize
- Falls asleep quickly
- Wakes up energized and refreshed
- More or less than to de-energize them
- If they feel tired a power nap (about 15 – 20 minutes in the mid-afternoon)
A man living a life with purpose has so much to do that he doesn’t want or need much sleep. He feels sleep is only need to recharge not to escape his life.
A man with a purpose driven life is energized by his dream and it is this enthusiasm that keeps him going. If, on the rare occasion, he does feel tired, a quick power nap is all that’s needed.
When a man is focused on his purpose, he is constantly energized and can’t wait to get up in the morning to start building his vision again.
No Life Purpose, Unfocused Man
- Need at least 8 hours per night
- Difficult to fall asleep at night
- Difficult in getting up in the morning
- Insomnia
- Excess caffeine and sugar to get going
- More caffeine and sugar in the afternoon to keep going
A man without a purpose in life feels drained all the time. He needs at least 8 hours sleep and this is more for escape then anything else.
A man vacant of purpose driven life has no source of energy so he looks to external sources to get through the day like coffee, Red Bull, etc.
Then he is dreading doing it all over again the next day that he has trouble falling asleep and may take something to fall asleep.
It’s a sad situation and he sees no way out.
Self Assessment
Energy Rejuvenation: The habit of adequate rest and sleep. The ability to shut off the mind at night in order to enjoy eight hours of energy-revitalizing sleep. The habit of waking up refreshed and energized each morning, looking forward to the challenges, opportunities, and joy the new day will bring.
