Do You Know What Your Life Purpose Is?

Do you ever wake up in the morning and ask yourself, “What am I supposed to do today? Is there anything I need to accomplish before the day ends?” only to realize that you have nothing – as in nothing to do or even look forward to?  You have no significant purpose for going to work except to pay bills.

Even when we were kids, we always had a purpose.  We might not have thought of it as a purpose, but there was something inside of us the created the enthusiasm to live each day.  It might have been to study so we could get good grades and graduate.  It could have been the audition for the lead role in a play.

After we accomplish all of these, we searched for another purpose – perhaps to get the attention of a specific classmate, or to make it on a sports team. And as soon as we accomplish those purposes, we then we looked for new ones.

This was all well and good when we were young.  But as we mature our purpose takes on a deeper meaning.  It’s not simply going from one personal goal to the next.  When we mature our purpose actually is NOT a goal.  It’s something we live everyday of our life.

It’s quite common, especially in this day and age for people to feel lost and not have a real sense of purpose in their lives. This usually happens after we accomplish a personal goal that took all we had and then realize that there’s nothing new to work for…been there, done that. After we celebrate our victory we realize there still remains and emptiness in our heart and soul.

When we use our mental strength and go into deep introspection of our self that will we realize that a purpose is essential in finding meaning in life.

Why is a purpose so important?

What do purpose-less people feel and do?

A purpose if the foundation for our decisions and actions we take in life!

A life without a purpose is like a journey without a map or an itinerary. You don’t know where to go, what to wear, what to bring, what to do. All your daily activities are directed by your life purpose.

Remember, a life purpose is NOT a list of things that must be accomplished or acquired, like getting rich, owning a Porsche or even getting married. Hey, there is nothing wrong with getting wealthy, owning an exotic sports car or even getting married, they just aren’t a purpose.

All these things have an “end date”, that is, there is a point when you have achieved the task. These are all personal goals, not your life purpose. All these things can be a byproduct of your life purpose, but don’t be confused in thinking the achievement of your personal goals or personal is your life purpose.

Your life purpose is a verb not a noun.

Your life purpose gives you direction, focus and clarity on a daily basis.  All actions become useless if you don’t have something to work towards. There will be numerous temptations and distractions on your Warrior’s Quest, and your life purpose provides the motivation to keep on keeping on.

Keep this in mind, a life purpose is often something bigger than you and cannot be achieved in your life time. You may never see the complete realization of your life purpose but at least, you won’t be experiencing the “empty hole” in soul.

Your life purpose enables you to de-clutter your thinking and actually simply your life.  Notice I didn’t say your life will be easier, it will just be simpler.   When you have a purpose, you know who and what to eliminate from your life. Anything that will not help you live your purpose can be easily let.

People who bring you down and tell you that you will never be successful can be dropped from your life. Material things that distract you can be eliminated or minimized. You life becomes simpler and less stressful – yet enriching.

When you have this internal guidance system you’ll be living a life of power, purpose and passion with perseverance!    You will be living a full and rewarding life.

Everyone’s purpose is different and unique to them.  And it takes deep introspective to discover your life purpose.  This is what’s so powerful about the Warrior’s Quest; it provides the space, time and reflections necessary for you to discover your life purpose.

Please keep in mind that your life purpose is personal. It is a product of your own wants and needs. You can never ask someone else what they think is your purpose in life. Only you alone can feel it in your heart and mind.

Changing Your Career

Finding your life purpose will require change.

Change is not the most convenient thing to experience in your life and when you discover your life purpose, the tables may turn and you can actually be yearning for a change.

For instance, you current career may be leaving you unfulfilled now that you have discovered your life purpose.  You may desire more, when it comes to challenges in your career. You may have lost interest with all your regular responsibilities, or even the relationship you have with your associates may fall away.

You may even start looking at other careers to fulfill your life purpose this is an indication that you need to create a career transition.

Many people are so moved by their life purpose that they feel compelled to up and quit their current job.

Stop!!!

During these times when the effects of a sluggish economic and job opportunities are on unstable ground, it’s best to be careful and examine your present situation, and the conceivable repercussions of making a drastic career change.

Presuming that you have a career and are generating income, it would be unwise to up and leave without a well thought out transition plan.   Sure your life purpose is calling you, but this doesn’t mean you have to put your financial future at risk.

Look at your current career as your own private angel investor.  Start to figure what it’s going to take make the transition from your current career to your life purpose career.  Or maybe you don’t have to leave; you can simply make room in your life to include your life purpose.

The main point here is, for you to map out your future and determine the best way to live your life purpose AND provide an income.  It’s no use trying to live your life purpose if you’re homeless and more worried about your own food and shelter than helping others.
