Attitude, Action and Results

I don’t know about you but sometimes people who are “too positive for comfort” seem to irritate me.

Hey, I’m just being honest, I’m all for PMA and personal develop and it just seems that some people always see the good behind every catastrophic thing, the positive qualities of a really scrupulous individual, and they seem oblivious to the “obvious” state of things in the world.

Then I stop and consider the quality of the life I want to live.

You see, positivity, or having a positive mental attitude, is not being unrealistic – it just means that one does not dwell on the past, on mistakes, on things which are beyond their control.

Here’s the truth, positive people have a better grasp of reality, because they are better equipped to handle stressful situations, and they know that dwelling on failure will never result to anything good.

Hey, even positive people are not perfect. They make mistakes, too. The main difference lies in their being able to get back up quicker than the normal person after every downfall.

They see failure as opportunities to learn.

They accept the fact that the world will continue turning, even if they sulk and cry – so why waste a good life feeling sorry?

The results you get from your life depend on your attitude. You go through life thinking that everyone is out to get you, and that’s exactly what you will get. You tackle a problem and think that you can never solve it, and then you won’t.

You start a relationship and think at the onset that it’s never going to last, then it will not. You wake up each morning and say to yourself that “it’s gonna be a crummy day,” then it will be.

When you repeatedly convince yourself that you’re going to fail – the body reacts according to how you think. Your mental attitude is commensurate to your success.

Therefore, defeatist attitude = defeated person. This is called “mental conditioning.”

There is another common fact related to negativity – Negative people HATE positive people. It’s like night and day, hot and cold, rain and sunshine. Maybe it’s because positive people oftentimes like forcing their positivity on to others – which is not too good.

The trick is to allow a negative person to accept his defeatist attitude, and then later on, realize that there is a need for change. This may take time, but it is doable.

You can turn your life around.

The reason why people are given a mind above the heart is because the mind has the power to change a negative emotion. Sure, the heart keeps the body alive, but the brain controls the way the body reacts.

Your heart rules over your emotions, while the mind rules over the body. If you are not yet too convinced, then recognize the following falsehoods about positive people. Some of these may be lurking at the back of your mind – convincing you that “positivity is not cool.”

Falsehood #1: “Negative thinking is more realistic.” – The truth is, you create your own realities. If you are negative, your body seeks out all the negative sides of everything or situation. If you are positive, then you only see the good behind every challenge.

Falsehood #2: “Positive people just wish for things and they happen.” – Of course this isn’t true. All people, whether positive or negative, have to work hard to achieve their dreams. Don’t condemn the positive people for thinking that they can do it. The truth is, their positivity makes things easier to achieve, because they tackle everything with joy in their heart and mind.

Falsehood #3: “Positive thinking does not change reality.” – Positive thinking does not help ignore reality – it just enables people to see things in a new light, therefore altering the results of their actions.

Falsehood #4: “Positive people have no clue about the real world.” – Now how can this possibly be true? All people, whether positive of negative, have gone through trials, deaths, disappointments, broken relationships. They all know about reality – they just choose to recover fast, and resolve to do better faster than any negative person, who has the general tendency to sulk and feel sorry for himself.

Knowing the benefits of a positive mental attitude and how it produces better results, wouldn’t you be convinced to make a change for the better?

You can do it – just believe that you can.
