Alex Meyer – The Athlete To Follow At The 2012 Olympics

Recently ‘Sports Illustrated – The Show’ did a piece about long distant and open-water swimmer Alex Meyer and his friend Fran Crippen.

Meyer and Crippen became close friends and Crippen took Meyer under his wing and helped him learn the ropes about open water swimming.

I’m not going to give the story away in-case you haven’t heard it. You see/read the Sports Illustrated story here:

The longest swim at London 2012

And another story can be found at:

Marathon Man

Until this story aired I have to be honest…I never knew there was a long distance swimming event at the Olympics.

It looks like the 10k swimming marathon will be held on August 10th from noon to 3:00 PM London time.

This is sad and inspiring story and I hope you’ll find time to watch this amazing event.
